Just out of view

A street reflected in the window of a brick house

The mail arrived shortly after I woke this morning, and it’s been a while since I took a photo from the front porch. So here, we have a reflection of the road in front of our house. It’s a nice house, I like the wood railing reflected there, and I ought to put some kind of greenery in the cement thing that is there for that purpose. But I kill greenery, so I’m on the fence about that one.

Movies and Weekends

370 fiction words, 607 total words

Good morning! (There are five minutes left of “morning”. Promise.)

So yesterday was Friday (Yay, Friday!!) and I got it into my head while I was working through the day that I must see both Wonder Woman and Megan Leavey this weekend. So of course I went to see the film about the marine and the dog first. On my drive to the theater I thought, “Shit. It’s opening weekend for this film. It’s going to be a crush! Well, I’ll just have to deal with it.” But it turned out that I was the only person in the last showing on opening day.

This is good news for me, and bad news for the film. Probably also had something to do with both Wonder Woman and The Mummy being in theaters, too.

Well, I enjoyed it. I’m a dog person, and this is a dog person’s movie. I liked the military stuff, I liked the dog stuff. I didn’t really care for the parental strife stuff, but one just goes along for the ride at some point.

The popcorn was yummy.

And I even managed to get some words in before I left! I’d done my blog words in the morning (thank you, Summer Routine!), and knowing I’d be taking off for a film, I shoved in a bundle of fiction (370 fiction words, 607 total words) after everyone was in bed but before I left (ridiculously early) for the theater. I’m hoping this weekend I can write 6,000 words (which I know I can, but will I?) so I can make this week my first 10K week. That’s the goal, the prize, the ultimate ambition of the next two days. If I clock in tomorrow with 3K, there’s a chance.

Wish me luck!
