Some progress is better than no progress any day of the week.
DAILY: 472 fiction words, 650 total words
Yesterday was full of laundry and not much writing since I planned poorly and forgot to bring the writing computer when I brought a Youth as well. I made up for it in the evening, but not enough to make it a 10K week. I knew that was coming, so the blow was lessened, at least.
Overall the week was a win. I increased words over the previous week, and my week was ranked in the single digits. Now that we’re approaching the halfway point of the year, this becomes more impressive.
June fiction total: 5,403
May fiction total: 6,107
April fiction total: 15,814
March fiction total: 12,576
February fiction total: 9,217
January fiction total: 18,615
2017 fiction total: 67,732
I’m pleased that June has almost surpassed May’s words. I’m going to hit that this week, I’m sure, and that will begin washing the bad taste out of my brain.
My Google Sheets says my average words per day are hitting 180, but my calculations are also off (it’s actually 491). I’ll have to look into how I can make Sheets realize how many days have passed and then divide my total by that number instead of the total days of the month. I may just need to change the number manually, which is no fun, but certainly easier.
I’m off for the day. Apologies for the brevity, but I have things to get done.
Happy Monday to all!
Elder Youth and I went to see Wonder Woman yesterday after picking my car up from the shop and spending more than I wanted but less than I expected on its repairs. It was good, and I really enjoyed it. I probably won’t get to see it in theaters again, but I will purchase it once it’s available.
I didn’t get to write 3,000 words like I wanted, but I did write.
518 fiction words, 890 total words.
Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
But with the way today is working out, I won’t make today a 5K+ day either. I’ll have to aim for a 10K week next week then, which is fine. I’ll keep telling myself that.
Good morning! (There are five minutes left of “morning”. Promise.)
So yesterday was Friday (Yay, Friday!!) and I got it into my head while I was working through the day that I must see both Wonder Woman and Megan Leavey this weekend. So of course I went to see the film about the marine and the dog first. On my drive to the theater I thought, “Shit. It’s opening weekend for this film. It’s going to be a crush! Well, I’ll just have to deal with it.” But it turned out that I was the only person in the last showing on opening day.
This is good news for me, and bad news for the film. Probably also had something to do with both Wonder Woman and The Mummy being in theaters, too.
Well, I enjoyed it. I’m a dog person, and this is a dog person’s movie. I liked the military stuff, I liked the dog stuff. I didn’t really care for the parental strife stuff, but one just goes along for the ride at some point.
The popcorn was yummy.
And I even managed to get some words in before I left! I’d done my blog words in the morning (thank you, Summer Routine!), and knowing I’d be taking off for a film, I shoved in a bundle of fiction (370 fiction words, 607 total words) after everyone was in bed but before I left (ridiculously early) for the theater. I’m hoping this weekend I can write 6,000 words (which I know I can, but will I?) so I can make this week my first 10K week. That’s the goal, the prize, the ultimate ambition of the next two days. If I clock in tomorrow with 3K, there’s a chance.
Wish me luck!
Good morning! A quick entry today because I woke up not at the very last moment, but only a half hour before it. My usual morning routine stretches out over two and a half hours, so I’m cramming in as much as I can.
Yesterday went well. I’m enjoying the Youths cut-off time for electronics of 6 p.m. because I get my computer back. I can get the goofing off done before bedtime, and then I have the quiet hours to focus on writing words while watching YouTube. (Oops.)
But it worked, because I got 804 fiction words and 1,150 total words. I haven’t had a 10K week yet this year, and I don’t think this week will be it, but it’s certainly a better week so far than my recent record.
Well, I have a couple more things to churn out, so I’m off. Good luck on your Friday!
My cats are adorable. I’ll stop gushing now.
I also know someone who is fostering a sweet dog who likes to sit on your lap. I guess the dog barks a LOT, though, when he first goes home with potential adopters. (Actually, it could be a female dog – I’m not certain.) If he could make it through a weekend, though, apparently he calms down and stops the constant barking. I just thought I’d toss that out there into the Internets because one never knows.
On to my day yesterday! Since the responsibility of ferrying folks to places in the morning was relieved of me (does that sentence even make sense?), I slept in until the very last moment in the morning, to the point where I woke up, got showered, got dressed, and walked out the door. This happened last summer and completely derailed my writing (did I mention this yesterday?), and I’m determined not to let it happen again.
I think I rather saved it in the afternoon, though. I got 616 fiction words and 834 total words (another fiction-over-blog victory!), and I got my blogs done, and I got to bed about 11 p.m. – a reasonable time.
Now the time approacheth for me to go back to the day job and work hard for my money. I’m looking forward back to the house, though, where I can write more. I think that’s a good thing. I can’t wait until I can write some more!” Who doesn’t love that?
Oh, speaking of Etsy (which we weren’t, but whatever), I ran across a mug that may be of interest to some of my writing friends. I love it for myself, but it’s handcrafted, and thus kind of pricey for a splurge purchase. Check it out. Someday, though, because yeah. Write the damn book!
